Patient Care
Gentle dentistry for anxious patients
If you have been putting off the dentist, you are not alone. Around 1 in 4 UK adults feel anxious about dental treatment. We are experienced at making nervous patients feel comfortable.
How we help
An anxiety-friendly approach
Longer, unhurried appointments
We build extra time into your visits so nothing feels rushed. You can stop, take a break, or come back another day - any time, no judgement.
Calm, tranquil setting
Our clinic at Hexgreave Estate is deliberately quiet and unclinical. Soft lighting, low-stimulation environment, and friendly faces from the moment you arrive.
You control the pace
Every step is explained before we do it. You always know what to expect, and you can use a stop signal whenever you need a moment.
Treatment broken into stages
Larger treatment plans can be split into smaller, shorter visits so nothing feels overwhelming. You set the pace and we follow it.
Acclimatisation visits
If a full appointment feels too much, we can start with a short visit just to meet the team, sit in the chair, and get used to the surroundings - no treatment planned.
Bring a friend
Partners, friends and family members are welcome in the surgery if it helps you feel more comfortable. Headphones and eye masks are available too.

How nervous patients usually start with us
A short chat first
Many nervous patients prefer a phone call or email before booking. We will listen to your concerns and help you decide what kind of first visit will feel easiest.
An acclimatisation visit (optional)
If a full check-up feels too much, you can come in just to meet the team, sit in the chair, and look around. No treatment, no pressure.
Extended first appointment
Your first proper visit is a longer slot than usual. We talk through everything, take a careful look, and only do what you are comfortable with on the day.
A plan you control
After your first visit, you leave with a written treatment plan and quote. We agree the pace together, and larger work can be broken into smaller stages spread across multiple visits if that helps.
Take the first step
Anxious patients usually find a quick phone call easier than booking online. Our team is friendly, patient, and used to listening. There is no obligation and no pressure.
