Welcome

Your first visit at Anele Dental

A relaxed, unhurried introduction to the practice and the team. Here's exactly what to expect, what's included, and how to prepare.

What's included for £120

A complete first visit, all in one appointment

Comprehensive examination

A full check of your teeth, gums, soft tissues, bite and oral health.

Two X-rays

Routine bitewing X-rays so we can see between and around your teeth.

Scale and polish

Professional cleaning to remove tartar and freshen everything up.

Written treatment plan

A clear plan and quote for any work needed, sent by email afterwards.

Oral cancer screening

A standard part of every exam. Quick, painless, and important.

Time to ask questions

No rush. Ask anything, and we'll talk you through your options.

Join Smile Club at or before your first visit and the £120 fee is credited against your membership. Essentially a free first visit if you decide to join. See Smile Club plans.

Before your visit

After you book, we send two short forms by email: a medical history form and a consent-to-examine form. They take about five minutes between them. Completing these in advance means we can get straight into your examination on the day, with no paperwork to fill in at reception.

What to bring: a list of any current medications and supplements, your previous dentist's contact details if you would like records transferred, and (if relevant) your dental insurance policy number for your own claim later. Photo ID is not required.

What if I'm nervous? Many of our new patients have been putting the dentist off for years, and we completely understand. Have a read of our anxious patients page, or just call us first for a chat. No obligation, no pressure.

On the day

How your visit flows

Allow around 60 minutes for the full appointment. Here's how the time is usually spent.

1

Arrival and welcome

Free on-site parking right outside the clinic. Step-free access into reception. We take a few minutes to settle you in.

2

A conversation

Before we look at anything, we talk. What brings you in, what you'd like to change, any concerns or sensitivities, any past dental experiences that matter.

3

Examination and X-rays

A thorough exam of your teeth, gums, soft tissues and bite. We take two routine bitewing X-rays so we can check between and around your teeth.

4

Hygiene appointment

A professional scale and polish included as part of your first visit. Removes tartar, freshens breath, and gives you a clean starting point.

5

Plan and quote

We talk through what we found, what (if anything) needs doing, and your options. You leave with a clear plan emailed to you afterwards, with no surprises later.

After your visit

Within a day or two, you will receive an email with your written treatment plan and a clear quote for any recommended work.

There is no pressure to book further treatment immediately. Take your time to read through the plan, ask questions, or get a second opinion. We are here when you are ready.

If you'd like to spread the cost of routine care, Smile Club membership starts from £22.99 a month and includes two annual exams, two hygiene appointments and routine X-rays as standard. Compare the plans.

Common questions

New patient FAQs

Do I need to register with Anele Dental separately, or does booking count?
Booking your first appointment is enough to start. We don't have a separate registration process. After you book online or by phone, we will send you a short medical history form and a consent form to complete before your visit. That covers everything we need.
What if I haven't been to a dentist in years?
You are very welcome. We see patients all the time who have not been able to attend for years, sometimes decades. There is no judgement. We will go at your pace, only doing what you are comfortable with on the day, and we will write a clear plan together for any longer-term care you need.
Do you accept dental insurance?
We are not directly contracted with dental insurance providers. Many of our patients pay using their plan's reimbursement scheme: we provide a receipt for your appointment and you claim it back from your insurer. Check your policy for details.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. You are welcome to bring a partner, friend or family member to your appointment, including into the surgery if it helps you feel more comfortable.
What if I need urgent treatment, not a routine first visit?
We offer Emergency Appointments at £200 on the day for new and existing patients dealing with pain, swelling, a chipped or knocked-out tooth, or a lost filling. Smile Plus members get one included per year and Smile Elite members get unlimited. Call us on 01623 575017 and we will fit you in as soon as we can - even when our dentist isn't in surgery, the wider Anele Clinic team can usually help with assessment, antibiotics or pain relief. See our emergency page for full details. The £120 New Patient Consultation is the right starting point if you are settling in for ongoing care rather than dealing with an emergency.
I have a specific treatment I want to discuss. Is the first visit the right place to do that?
Yes. The £120 first visit is for everything: a routine new-patient exam if you're settling in for ongoing care, plus a conversation about anything specific you'd like to explore - whitening, bonding, implants, replacing old fillings, anything. You leave with a written treatment plan covering both routine and any cosmetic or restorative work you're interested in.
